The suspect, who is already in prison, faces murder charges following a Manassas-area killing

On June 12, detectives charged Tavaris Maleek Eberhardt with murder in connection with the May 23 fatal shooting of Carlos Marcell Moore near Manassas. Eberhardt, already in prison on unrelated charges, allegedly shot Moore after a verbal argument and attempted to remove evidence from the scene; A firearm was found in the warehouse rented by Eberhardt, but it was not used in the shooting.

Murder investigation *ARREST | VICTIM IDENTIFIED – On June 12, detectives charged a suspect in a fatal shooting that reportedly occurred in the 12000 block of Cadet Ct. in Manassas (20109) on May 23. During an investigation into the incident, detectives determined that on the evening of May 22, a verbal altercation occurred between the 30-year-old victim and a second man located near the vehicle, later identified as the defendant. Shortly thereafter, in the early morning hours of May 23, the defendant fired multiple shots into the vehicle, which struck and killed the victim. The defendant then removed evidence from the scene before police arrived at the parking lot. While investigating the incident, detectives executed a search warrant at a warehouse rented by the defendant and located two firearms, neither of which were used in the shooting. As a result of the investigation, detectives linked the defendant to the murder and obtained arrest warrants. The defendant, identified as Tavaris Maleek EBERHARDT, was charged in connection with a homicide investigation at the Adult Detention Center where he was incarcerated based on his prior charges from an unrelated case.
