A burnt-out headlight lands two people in jail for drug dealing

Christen Brown and Dericka Knott

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Two Pike County residents were arrested after a burned-out headlight led police to the discovery of a large quantity of drugs.

Shortly after midnight Wednesday morning, a state trooper spotted Christen Brown, 30, of Virgie, driving a GMC Sierra without a headlight.

When the officer went to talk to Brown, he suspected he was under the influence of something. After a field sobriety test, Brown was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

A subsequent search of the car revealed that it contained large amounts of methamphetamine, heroin and suboxone, according to police.

Both Brown and his passenger, Dericka Knott, 24, of Shelbiana, denied that the drugs were theirs.

Police also found Knott in possession of $500 in cash.

The two were arrested for trafficking methamphetamine, heroin and suboxone, among other charges.
