Caregiver accused of sexually abusing a 90-year-old woman after publishing a photo

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Tennessee caregiver is charged with sexually abusing an elderly patient after she allegedly posted an illicit photo of him on social media.

The Covington Police Department says 34-year-old Cecily Ware has been charged with sexual abuse of an elderly or vulnerable person, illegal photography in private and neglect of an elderly or vulnerable person.

According to Covington police, detectives received a referral from state Adult Protective Services on June 12. According to APS reports, a 90-year-old man told APS that a caregiver took photos of him while he was partially clothed.

Covington police said that after identifying Ware as the caregiver, detectives brought her in for questioning. According to police, detectives learned that Ware had taken a photo of a “damaged” patient in a wheelchair and posted it on Snapchat.

Ware was booked into the Tipton County Jail and given a $50,000 bond. Covington police say she has since been released.
