INTO University Partnerships Launches Innovative Employment Program for International Students at Oregon State University

CORVALLIS, OR / ACCESSWIRE / July 9, 2024 / INTO Oregon State University (INTO OSU) has unveiled an innovative “Jump Start” employment program for international students that allows them to find on-campus jobs before arriving in the United States.

This innovative program will benefit all Oregon State University international students who receive support and services from INTO OSU – an educational center of INTO University Partnerships, a global education partnership.

Through the Jump Start program, students can earn up to $20,000 per year while gaining invaluable work experience through a wide range of on-campus work opportunities. This program not only enriches their educational path, but also provides a solid financial foundation and professional development.

“We are excited to introduce INTO OSU’s Jump Start Employment program, a pioneering initiative designed to provide our international students with early access to job opportunities. This program not only allows students to potentially earn approximately $20,000 per year, but also equips them with critical skills and experiences that will significantly enhance their career paths,” said Bob GilmourExecutive Director of INTO OSU.

“At INTO OSU, we are committed to supporting our students in every aspect of their academic and professional development, and Jump Start is a testament to that commitment.” International students studying in the United States have the opportunity to work on campus for up to 20 hours per week during the semester and more during the summer. International undergraduate and graduate students who have an offer to study on the OSU Corvallis campus with INTO OSU support and services are eligible for Jump Start.

“International students studying at Oregon State University have a variety of on-campus job opportunities to choose from. These positions provide students from different countries and cultures with the opportunity to contribute to the campus community and its diversity. Finding and applying for a job on campus before coming to the U.S. is no easy feat for an international student. It requires overcoming many challenges and acquiring new skills. I am glad that the INTO OSU Student Success Services team has introduced this program to help students through the process. The team informs students about the available job positions and the steps to apply, and prepares them for their first day on the job,” said Edward FeserVice-Rector and Executive Vice President of OSU.

Students enrolled in the Jump Start program will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Annual earning potential up to $20,000

  • Enhanced interviewing and CV writing skills

  • One-on-one support from an INTO OSU staff member to help you get from application to your first day on campus

  • Remote interviews in the home country of international students before they travel to the US

  • Possibility to start working within your first week at OSU

  • A job offer specifying the minimum expected salary for a given year, which can be used as proof of financial resources in the recruitment process

  • Valuable work experience that will help students prepare for their careers after graduation

  • A network of colleagues and superiors who can act as professional references

  • Work environment within walking distance of dorms and campus activities

  • A flexible work environment designed to fit your learning schedule, helping you achieve continued academic success

“I applied for an internship at Amazon and had an interview. I took two weeks off from my on-campus job to prepare for the interview. I did, and after completing the internship, I now have a job offer at Amazon in Seattle after graduation. Working as a student helped me prepare for my internship at Amazon. Having a good attitude about the work culture and having a routine and discipline is very important,” she said. Samishastudent from India.

“I like this program because it allows undergraduate students to gain work experience while studying and also provides some financial support. The details of the program were clearly explained to me. The interview process was also good because my interviewers were nice and helpful to me and their questions were thoughtful.” Ahmetstudent from Turkey.

An inaugural email was sent to approximately 1,700 graduates and students inviting them to register for Jump Start. So far, 102 students have signed up.
