Watch: 14-year-old US soccer phenom Cavan Sullivan scores first professional goal

The future of American soccer scored his first professional goal over the weekend, as Cavan Sullivan, a 14-year-old midfielder who plays for the Philadelphia Union, got on the scoresheet with a fine individual effort.

Sullivan’s goal came for Philadelphia Union II, who play in MLS Next Pro. He is reportedly signed by Manchester City in the English Premier League.

As you would expect from a prodigy, Sullivan is technically adept. Confident on the ball, he is an astute passer and a good finisher.

In early June, he made his first appearance for Philadelphia Union II, the MLS club’s development arm. The Union has one of the best academy systems in North America, and Sullivan is considered another player who will have an impact on the team’s development.

He signed with the Association on May 9. He is also a member of the United States U-15 National Team.

Look at Sullivan’s goal, a brilliantly executed shot, with class:

Sullivan has already scored one goal and an assist this season.
