DVIDS – News – WHINSEC Command General Officer Course celebrates official inauguration of Class of 2025.

FORT MOORE, GA (July 8) – Today, WHINSEC held its traditional International Flag Ceremony in the auditorium with students, faculty and family members from 13 countries in attendance. The event marks the academic beginning of the Command and General Staff Officers Course. Participating nations displayed their national colors during the ceremony. The occasion represents both the spirit of international cooperation and the great diversity of knowledge brought by the students.

The Class of 2025 will be represented by Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Panama, Uruguay and the U.S. The U.S. contingent is represented by members of the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Air Force, Marines, Army National Guard, Army Reserve and the U.S. Army.

The ceremony marks the official start of the 47-week course. The course educates and trains mid-level officers from the Army, sister services, sister agencies and partner nations to be prepared to operate in unified land operations, joint, interagency and international environments as field commanders and staff officers. Additional instruction for each student includes a mandatory minimum of more than 40 hours of instruction in human rights, the rule of law, due process, civilian control of the military and the role of the military in a democratic society.

CGSOC, a Class of 2024 graduate and current Director of the De Leon – Gonzalez School of Leadership and Tactics, Lt. Col. Munir Noureddine was the special guest speaker at the event. He began his speech with a quote from Colin Powell: “Success is the result of excellence, hard work, learning from mistakes, loyalty and perseverance.”

He continued to congratulate the students, “Your selection for the Command and General Staff Course at WHINSEC marks a significant milestone in your military career. All the nations represented today sent their best officers. The course will provide you with a broader perspective on military operations, strategic planning and high-level decision-making to meet the most complex challenges of your career.”

“A year ago I was in your shoes. I can tell you for sure that WHINSEC promotes cooperation and knowledge exchange between officers from different countries, strengthening the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding in the Western Hemisphere. These international relationships will be invaluable throughout your career, allowing you to work together to solve common problems and promote regional peace and security. Always maintain a positive attitude and an open mind to learn, mastering the transition from one block to the next. Every day is a learning opportunity – use every class, every exercise, and every interaction with peers and instructors to grow as a leader and as a person. Having great synergy on your team will ensure that everyone starts and ends together!”

“More than an educational institution; WHINSEC is a family. You will become brothers and sisters, mentors and confidants, supporting each other on difficult days. Manage your time effectively, balancing fitness, studies and family. You represent the best of your countries; work with great motivation and dedication to achieve your goals. Make the most of this experience and I wish you success on this new path,” concluded Noureddine.
