Broward judge faces public reprimand for spreading rumors about opponent

The Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission has reached a settlement with a Broward Circuit Court judge to issue public reprimands for two incidents of the judge’s inappropriate conduct during his re-election campaign.

The commission wrote that “a public reprimand for Judge Levey Cohen will be sufficient to deter respondent from similar misconduct in the future and will also serve as a reminder to future candidates for judicial office that they must protect the integrity of judicial elections by refraining from engaging in the spread of unverified accusations about campaign opponents.”
