The search for a missing 84-year-old Lower Merion Twp. woman, Nadine Beech, has ended tragically.

LOWER MERION TWP., Pennsylvania (WPVI) — Police said the search for an 84-year-old woman missing from Lower Merion Twp. has ended tragically.

Nadine Beech’s body was found Tuesday afternoon around 4 p.m. on Garden Lane, near Morris Avenue, in the Bryn Mawr neighborhood.

Police say her family has already been notified.

Beech left the Waverly Heights nursing home in the Gladwyne section of Lower Merion Parish to go for a walk around 10:30 a.m. Monday.

She was last seen alive just an hour later.

Officials say no restrictions were placed on her movement and she was allowed to leave the property.

“She was able to come and go freely. She was assessed upon intake, and with the information provided by the family, there was no risk of this type of behavior,” Waverly Heights President Tom Garvin said at a news conference before Beech was found.

In a written statement released after Beech’s body was found, Gavin said:

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ms. Beech and extend our deepest condolences to her family. Waverly Heights has never experienced such a loss.”

Police said the extreme heat and the fact that Beech was new to the area and may have gotten lost were serious concerns.
