Republican Party RNC Platform Is Trump-Inspired Scare Tactics in All Caps

The platform is basically a collection of random capitalized words — PREVENT WORLD WAR III, REBUILD OUR CITIES — generated, I assume, by an authoritarian-leaning AI that was given a transcript from a Trump rally.

Great news: The Republican Party is now officially as weird and drunk as Donald Trump, the convicted felon the party is promoting as its presidential candidate/democracy saboteur.

On Monday, the Republican National Committee’s program committee adopted the strangest document ever created, declaring it the party’s new official platform, less a serious statement of the party’s values and plans for governing than a reminder that Republicans believe real policy proposals are for woke morons and that American voters should just shut up and let billionaires control things.

The title of the document is: “2024 GOP PLATFORM MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Yes, the title is missing a punctuation mark — probably a colon. And yes, there is an exclamation point at the end of the title, which should serve as a reminder that this is a completely frivolous political party.

But don’t worry, it gets much, much worse.

RNC Platform Is a Collective Writing of Trump’s Promises

The intro is full of random capitalizations and other MAGA-inspired attacks on the English language. Take this line, for example: “But now we are a nation in MAJOR DECLINE.”

This “SERIOUS” prefaces the 20-point, all-caps list that is the party platform, letting the reader know that SERIOUS things are ALWAYS in ALL CAPS to demonstrate their SERIOUSNESS. (It’s worth noting that the Republican Party is abandoning its evangelical base by not calling for a national abortion ban or defining marriage as strictly between a man and a woman.)

Project 2025 is terrible: Biden? Harris? I don’t care. All that matters is stopping Trump and Project 2025.

Trump’s Republican Party platform relies on scare tactics and little detail

The 20 “promises” that make up the “2024 Republican Party Platform to Make America Great Again!” start with good, old-fashioned, dangerous xenophobia and a promise to sweep America and round up millions of immigrants:

  1. BLOCK THE BORDER AND STOP THE MIGRANT INVASION
  2. CONDUCT THE LARGEST DEPORTATION OPERATION IN AMERICAN HISTORY

Number 3 is a simple slogan: “END INFLATION AND MAKE AMERICA AFFORDABLE AGAIN,” which begs the question: If you have some magic beans that will end inflation, why are you holding on to them?

Let’s leave it to the Trump Republican Party to randomly write capital letters for no reason

The fourth promise has an exclamation point to remind readers that this is all very stupid: MAKE AMERICA THE BY FAR DOMINANT WORLD ENERGY PRODUCER!

There’s also the usual anti-woke nonsense like REMOVE THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE REQUIREMENT and LET MEN PARTICIPATE IN WOMEN’S SPORTS.

Democrats must do more: Biden’s attempt to salvage his campaign and presidency has so far proven to be too disappointing

Otherwise, the actual platform of the party that believes it should be entrusted with governing consists essentially of a collection of randomly capitalized words — PREVENT WORLD WAR III, REBUILD OUR CITIES — generated, I assume, by an authoritarian-leaning AI that was loaded into a Trump rally transcript.

The party’s program is certainly missing some elements that Trump wants.

But what really struck me was the lack of promises that I’m sure Trump himself wanted to put in there. Things like CANCELLING ALL FUTURE BALLOTS BECAUSE IT’S STUPID and CUTS FEDERAL FUNDING TO ANY SCHOOL THAT DOESN’T TEACH STUDENTS THAT DONALD TRUMP WON THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION AND IS THE GREATEST PRESIDENT OF ALL TIME.

But that doesn’t matter here.

What matters is that Democrats are running against this pre-kindergarten nonsense. If they decide whether President Joe Biden is too old to be their candidate, they have a good chance of winning because many Americans think things like “STOP THE MIGRANT INVASION” are scare tactics.

Unlike the Republican Party and Trump, the Democratic Party is showing maturity in considering Biden’s future

The mere fact that Democrats are considering Biden’s future after his disastrous performance in the presidential debate shows that the party is about 9 billion times more serious than the Republican Party.

Look at it this way:

Biden showed his age during one of the debates, sparking wide-ranging speculation among Democrats about the future.

Trump lost the last presidential election, was convicted of multiple crimes, and spews hateful rhetoric like an angry sprinkler. What do Republicans do? They embrace him and let him dictate a party platform that effectively says, “I CAN HAVE FREEDOM!”

We’ll soon find out if Biden will remain the Democratic standard-bearer. Until then, take a look at the platform the other side is promoting.

You’ll wonder if they’re really cut out for the job.
