The 19-year-old motorcyclist was travelling on the B9013 from College of Roseisle to Burghead Road when the crash involving a white Vauxhall Crossland car happened at 9.55pm on Tuesday.

The teenager, who was riding a blue Yamaha FZ6 Fazer motorbike, was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital for treatment and then transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The road was closed for five hours while an investigation was carried out before reopening at about 3.30am.

Detective Inspector Callum Hogg, of Elgin Road Police, said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone with any information that could be helpful to get in touch.

“In particular, we would like to speak to anyone who saw these vehicles prior to the crash, or who was in the area at the time and may have a dashcam which could assist in making contact.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 citing reference 3588 of Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

The incident comes just hours after a 55-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a tractor on the B9136 in Moray.
