Cairo city honors fallen officer by naming street after him

CAIRO, Ga. (WALB) – The city of Cairo is honoring fallen officer Clarence “CJ” Williams by naming a street in his name.

The city wrote on its Facebook page that the street named after him, CJ Williams Drive, was formerly called 12th Avenue SW and runs from 1st Street SW to 3rd Street SW.

Officer Williams died of a heart attack during a foot chase in 2023.

In June, Williams was also honored as part of the Ride to Remember closing celebrations.
