New charges filed against Polk County man arrested for video surveillance

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Three more victims have been identified and more charges have been filed against a man arrested last month for voyeuristic video surveillance in Polk County.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) said 43-year-old Domingo Rivera Velez was arrested on Wednesday, June 26, after he allegedly took a photo of a girl while she was using the restroom.

After Velez was arrested, PCSO detectives said they seized numerous electronic devices. After searching the electronic devices, detectives identified three additional victims who were unknowingly being recorded.

According to PCSO, all three new victims are now adults, but one of them was 11 years old at the time of the recording.

Detectives are still examining footage from the South Lakeland Home Depot where he worked. PCSO said the footage they are now viewing is of a hidden camera pointing up the skirts and dresses of customers as they walked between the shelves.

Valez’s new charges include video voyeurism of a victim under the age of 16 (F2), video voyeurism (2 counts, F3), aggravated possession of child pornography (2 counts, F3) and production of child pornography (F2).

PCSO Sheriff Grady Judd asked anyone who had suspicious encounters with Rivera Velez to contact PCSO detectives at 863-298-6200.
