Fairfield police officer puts out house fire with garden hose

(KRON) – An unexpected house fire was extinguished by an officer nearby, according to Fairfield police.

At approximately 10:10 p.m. on July 4, Officer Neal of the Fairfield Police Department responded to a call about a fire in the 1900 block of Sherwood Court. Officer Neal observed flames in a neighboring home. According to Fairfield Police, there were hot embers on the roof and a fence was on fire.

Officer Neal attempted to contact the homeowners using the security system. He then grabbed a nearby garden hose to extinguish the fire.

The homeowners contacted the Fairfield Police Department to express their gratitude for Neal’s actions.
