Sharon Stone says ‘there’s so much hate’ for Kevin Spacey because abuse allegations were ‘man on man’

“That’s why he’s not allowed to come back. Because he’s offended the men.”

Sharon Stone is defending herself against criticism for supporting Kevin Spacey, who has been accused of sexual harassment by more than a dozen men since 2017.

“People are mad at me for this,” Stone said. Hollywood Reporter her previous comments on the subject. “I said that after seven years of therapy, after not being allowed to work, after losing his home, after losing everything, he should be able to come back. He contacted everyone he had offended and said he was sorry.”

The Oscar-nominated actress, who has long been open about her experiences with sexual harassment in Hollywood, added that the negative reaction to Spacey stems from the fact that his alleged victims were men, not women.

“That’s why he can’t come back. Because he insulted men,” she argued. “But can I tell you how many men have grabbed my genitals in my life? A lot more than Kevin Spacey has grabbed men’s genitals. And none of them have ever apologized to me.”

In a statement for Entertainment per weekStone clarified her comments: “I did not defend him and I will not defend him,” she said of Spacey. “When someone goes through seven years of recovery from any compulsive behavior, whether it’s drugs, alcohol, sexual behavior, and then takes responsibility for it, in our business we allow them to go back to work with their sponsor. This is the only case where that hasn’t happened. In my opinion, it’s because it’s a sexual crime by a man against a man. And we are not responsible for sexual crimes by men against women at all, and there has to be some kind of middle ground.”

I understand that people think I’m difficult. But I’m a person who wants to make sure that you have water to drink and I want to make sure that you have books to read and a place to read them.”
