Man arrested for sexual conduct towards child, illegal recording of women and young girls

An Auckland man was arrested this week for illegally videotaping women and young girls for almost a decade.

Police say the 40-year-old faces 42 charges related to the secret making and possession of intimate visual recordings and objectionable material.

He was also charged with committing a sexual act against a person under the age of 12.

Further attacks were possible in Operation Frost.

Detective Sergeant Rick Veacock said the investigation, led by Auckland City’s Child Abuse Unit, had identified 22 victims over eight years.

“Search warrants were conducted at addresses in Auckland, Waiheke Island and Taupō last month, culminating in the arrest of a 40-year-old man this week.”

The accused man has already appeared in the Auckland District Court.

“While we are unable to comment specifically on these matters before the Court, we are pleased that we are at a point where this man can stand trial,” Veacock said.
