Ellis Cox was found seriously injured after being shot on the Liver Industrial Estate in Aintree, Sefton, on 23 June, just after 22:10 BST.

Merseyside Police said an 18-year-old man, of no fixed address, and a 17-year-old boy, from West Derby, have been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

His family said he had been “taking advantage of a sunny day to go for a bike ride with his friends”.

They said he was “loved and adored” and that their world was “shattered and irreparable” after his death.

His family described him as “the best son, brother, cousin, nephew, uncle, grandson and friend anyone could hope for”, adding that he was “fiercely loyal to all of us”.
