18-year-old accused of causing 18-wheeler crash given $50,000 bail

A teenager accused of crashing a semi-trailer truck into a Mission home was arraigned Tuesday and was given a $50,000 bond.

Jose Osvaldo Sanchez, 18, turned himself in to police at 8 a.m. Tuesday and was questioned at 11:30 a.m. He has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and faces up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The crash occurred June 29 on Highway 83 near La Houma Road.

Mission police said Sanchez was driving a Fiat when he changed lanes without using caution, striking a trailer and causing the crash.

The driver of the 18-wheeler, Anastacio Martinez Jr., was killed.
