Grant County, Kentucky church fire: 2 firefighters arrested

Two firefighters charged with setting fire to Grant County church

Corinth firefighters Brendan Gibson, 24, and Robert Hughes, 23, appeared in court Tuesday.

The fire was reported just before 6 a.m. Monday at Shiloh Full Gospel Church.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene along with fire departments from Corinth, Williamstown and Dry Ridge.

Arrest reports for Gibson and Hughes indicate they were among the first firefighters to arrive at the church.

According to the arrest report, investigators’ findings indicate that Gibson and Hughes set the vehicle on fire themselves.

Kentucky State Police officials said Gibson and Hughes confessed to their actions that led to the fire.

Both firefighters are being held at the Grant County Detention Center on $10,000 bail.

They will return to court for a preliminary hearing on July 17 at 11:00 a.m.
