DELTA, Colo. — Newly released body camera footage shows the moment an agitated suspect tries to attack an officer, leading to an officer-involved shooting. the Montrose Press newspaper reported.

One new measure allows families of deceased Mississippi first responders to receive their first responder pay for up to 60 days

Russell Richardson, a 54-year-old information security officer with the Houston Police Department, was killed when his vehicle was submerged in floodwaters

St. Paul police said witnesses were unable to help the driver get out of the burning vehicle due to the continuous explosions.

The group threw several fireworks and Molotov cocktails into oncoming traffic before being stopped by Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies.

The incident occurred on Oct. 10, 2023, when a Delta Police Department officer responded to reports of a suspicious person entering a home, according to a report. Upon arrival, the officer encountered the suspect, who was aggressive and persistent, the video shows.

The man defended himself against the officer, claiming that the woman “killed (his) child.” When asked why he tried to enter the house, he said he was looking for his daughter.

The officer then attempted to detain the man, instructing him to place his hands behind his back. The man refused, initially moving away from the officer before approaching aggressively.

The man can be seen repeatedly attempting to punch the officer before the officer pulled out a TASER. The shock of the TASER caused the suspect to step back again, before he screamed and approached the officer.

He then attempted to kick the officer. The bystander attempted to calm the suspect down as the officer ordered the suspect to the ground. The suspect refused, instead walking away from the officer while shouting profanities.

After several seconds of the man refusing to obey the officer, the man ran toward the trailer. The officer fired one shot, hitting the man. The officer then attempted to arrest the man, providing aid when he continued to resist.

The suspect was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the report. He tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamines, opiates and benzodiazepines.

According to District Attorney Seth Ryan, the officer involved in the shooting will not be charged in the shooting. The district attorney determined that the officer acted reasonably in self-defense.
