KEARNEY — Kearney Community Learning Center (KCLC) is excited to announce the conclusion of its summer horseback riding program with a special show on Friday, July 12 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Christine’s Horseback Riding located at 8215 Hidden Hills Rd.

This summer, KCLC partnered with Christine’s Horseback Riding to provide a unique and enriching experience for students entering grades 4 and 5 this fall. The program included hands-on horse care lessons such as brushing, saddling, and riding, as well as instruction in various aspects of horse care.

Highlights of the program included a trip to the Overton Veterinary Clinic, where students learned about equine veterinary care and witnessed basic equine medical procedures. Additionally, students visited the Nebraska Wild Horse and Burro Facility, where they learned about the care and management of mustangs.

The upcoming show will feature students showcasing their newly acquired Western riding skills. This event not only celebrates the hard work and dedication of the students, but also provides the community with an opportunity to see the benefits of hands-on, experiential learning.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer this unique program to our students,” said Michelle Arehart, KCLC Principal. “The partnership with Christine’s Horseback Riding has provided an incredible learning experience, and we are proud of all the students’ accomplishments.”

We invite family, friends and community members to attend and support young riders who want to showcase their skills and knowledge.
