Tamar Pandi named CIO

I am pleased to announce that Tamar Pandi has accepted an offer to become UNCSA’s Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective July 1!

Tamar has served as UNCSA’s interim CIO since January 2024, following the retirement of former CIO Terry Harmon. Additionally, Tamar has served as UNCSA’s deputy CIO since 2021.

Tamar, a UNCSA graduate, has over 29 years of experience at UNCSA in a broad range of IT disciplines including network security, customer service, classroom support, infrastructure design, application development, and systems administration. Tamar recently earned his CGCIO certification after completing the one-year Certified Government Chief Information Officers Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Government.

I would like to thank the members of the Hiring Committee who devoted countless hours to this important position. Working with a recruiting firm, they narrowed the list of over 140 candidates to 8 for online interviews and then 3 finalists for on-campus interviews. The Hiring Committee members were: Gary Penrod-Chair, Martin Ferrell, Steve Gallagher, Nakita Green, Sharon Hush, Aaron Ross, and Brock Snyder.

In addition, I would like to thank the following IT members who participated in on-campus interviews: John Emanuel, Jessica Greenstein, Nick Johnson, William Lee, and Dennis Wilson. I would also like to thank the members of the Executive Leadership Team who were able to participate in on-campus interviews. The feedback from all groups was invaluable.

Please join me in congratulating Tamar and welcoming him to his new position!

Kind regards,

Wendy Emerson

Vice-Rector for Finance and Administration
