The firefighters were called by a citizen after his cat was hit by a car.

The incident happened yesterday evening (Wednesday 10th July) at 11.08pm on Heslington Road.

The cat escaped, injured itself, and climbed into the engine compartment of another parked car.

Crews from York have taken action to hand the cat, named Seaweed, over to the safe hands of his owners, who will then take him to the vet with suspected injuries to his back leg and pelvis.
