(KRON) — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred early on the morning of July 4, according to the San Jose Police Department. SJPD officers responded at approximately 4:49 a.m. to the 5900 block of Liska Lane for multiple reports of gunshots and a vehicle collision.

At the scene, officers found a vehicle that had crashed into the garage of a home and caught fire. A man was driving the vehicle that had crashed. Officers and the fire department extinguished the fire and removed the man from the vehicle.

The driver, police said, had at least one gunshot wound. Despite life-saving measures, the victim died at the scene.

During the initial investigation, officers discovered a second victim — a woman with at least one gunshot wound. The woman was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

When police arrived, the suspect fled the scene. SJPD homicide detectives took over the investigation and identified the suspect as Pierre Franco Plascensia, 40, of San Jose. A warrant was obtained for his arrest.

Five days later—on July 9—SJPD Undercover Response Unit officers located Plascensia in San Jose and arrested him. He was booked into Santa Clara County Central Jail on a murder charge.

Police are still investigating the circumstances and motive surrounding the incident. It was the 18th homicide in San Jose in 2024.
