Policeman Murdered, Defendant Arrested – Daily Excelsior

REASI, July 10: A policeman was brutally murdered with a sharp weapon near Gran Morh, in the area of ​​the Reasi police station. The incident occurred this evening.

The deceased identified as Constable Zahoor Ahmed Malik alias Raju, age 35, (Lane No. 481/KTR), son of Mohd Qasim, was currently posted in Kishtwar district. He was attacked by the accused with a sharp weapon, which resulted in his instant death.
Acting swiftly, the police arrested the alleged accused within an hour of the crime being reported. Identified as Shakoor Ahmed alias Shoki, son of Abdul Hamid of Katal, Gran Morh, Reasi, the accused has a criminal record. He tried to escape when the district police caught him.
The police said that the reason behind the murder was some old rivalry. The weapon used to commit the crime was also confiscated from the crime scene.
According to the police, information was received at the Reasi Police Station this afternoon at around 2:40 PM regarding the dead body of a police constable Zahoor Ahmed lying near Gran Morh, Industrial Area. After shifting the body to the District Hospital, Reasi for further tests and post-mortem, a case FIR No. 115/2024 was registered at the Reasi Police Station under Section 103 BNS, 4/25 Arms Act.
Considering the seriousness of the crime, SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma immediately formed various teams led by DySP HQ Reasi, Neeraj Padyar and SHO Reasi to nab the accused involved in the crime. After an intense action, the police arrested the accused who was trying to flee from the district.
Initial investigations indicate that an old rivalry led to the policeman’s murder. Further investigations are ongoing.
