The alleged victim told police that Godoy choked her, pushed her against a wall and began sexually assaulting her. She said she told him “no” and to stop, but he continued. She also said she had trouble breathing during the attack.

After the alleged attack, the victim left her shift early, court documents say. She then contacted a friend who helped her report the incident to police.

According to reports, on July 9, Godoy called the victim and begged her not to report him because she didn’t want to lose her job over “stupidity.” Documents say he apologized several times in the phone call after the victim said she didn’t have her consent.

Godoy was later arrested while working at the prison. He reportedly admitted to police that he held the victim by the neck for 10 seconds, pushed her against a wall and sexually assaulted her. Police said he admitted he was to blame for the incident and had authority over the woman.

The victim was subjected to a sexual assault examination which revealed injuries to her torso and neck caused by the assault.

Both individuals also told police that this was their first in-person meeting. Godoy also allegedly had prior complaints about sexually assaulting another subordinate and making sexual remarks to another person.

Godoy was booked into the Maricopa County Jail and faces five charges in connection with the incident.
