Wanted: Augusta suspect who allegedly knocked on door, shot victim

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect in the shooting death of a victim after he answered the front door of a home, authorities said Thursday.

Sheriff’s deputies say they responded to the 1000 block of McNutt Way on July 7 for a report of an aggravated assault that occurred around 10 p.m.

When officers arrived, the victim told them the suspect, 40-year-old Derick Kilgore, knocked on her front door but when she answered the door he shot her, officers said.

The witness told officers that Kilgore and his wife came to visit her, even though she did not want Kilgore on her property.

Kilgore told officers she went outside and then heard a shot.

When Kilgore went back inside to get his things, she asked him what he was shooting, she told officers.

According to the witness, Kilgore responded that he “felt like shooting.”

A witness told officers that Kilgore’s wife led her to the victim’s camper where the shot victim was located.

According to authorities, a witness said Kilgore and his wife drove away in an unknown, dark blue Durango.

Kilgore is officially five feet seven inches tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds.

According to authorities, the man is frequently seen in the area of ​​McNutt Way and Bennock Mill Road.
