Weber County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Death of 12-Year-Old Child | News, Sports, Jobs

WEST HAVEN — A 12-year-old West Haven child died when deputies with the Weber County Sheriff’s Office responded to a “medical call” Tuesday afternoon.

According to a release from the sheriff’s office, the call came in at approximately 2:30 p.m. Upon arrival, officers assisted family members in performing CPR on the child until emergency medical personnel arrived on scene.

Eventually, the child was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, “but unfortunately he died,” the release reads.

Weber County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Terance Lavely told the Standard-Examiner that the child’s cause of death and the circumstances leading up to it are currently under investigation.

Due to the child’s age, his identity will not be revealed.

“The Weber County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family; our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn this loss,” the release read.

Lavely added that no other information will be released at this time.
