UA Little Rock offers utility class to business students – News

Dozens of university leaders, faculty, students, alumni and business leaders gathered to celebrate the dedication of a newly renovated classroom that will enhance the learning environment for future business leaders at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Thanks to the generosity of USAble Life, the classroom will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and technology to benefit School of Business students. USAble Life made a $25,000 donation to sponsor the class for five years.

“Through this newly sponsored class, they are making a significant difference to us, our community and our students,” said Chancellor Ann Bain. “Your generous investment in our students and the university will help keep the School of Business at the forefront of preparing our students to succeed in the workforce for years to come.”

John Moran, chief financial officer at USAble Life, recalls that he was looking at classes a few months ago and thought it would be a good opportunity to invest in the education of business students in Arkansas.

“We were looking for a way to give back to this organization,” Moran said. “We pride ourselves on our local connections, and that’s why we’re proud of what we do here at UA Little Rock. Our commitment to this organization remains unchanged. There are some great UA Little Rock alumni working at USAble Life, which certainly shows what this organization can do for the community.”

This classroom is the latest in a series of learning spaces that have been renovated in collaboration with business and community partners in Central Arkansas. The Usable Life Classroom is the first classroom in the Reynolds Business Building.

The USAble Life classroom is one of the larger classrooms at Reynolds and prepares students for careers in accounting, finance, marketing, management, business information systems and more.

USAble Life values the high-quality education and workforce preparation provided by the School of Business. The organization currently employs 52 UA Little Rock graduates.

“Let me congratulate UA Little Rock for nearly 100 years of impacting this community and creating the great team members we have employed,” said Jason Mann, president of the board of directors of USAble Life. “Thank you for your cooperation and we hope to work together for many years.”

USAble Life has a long history of supporting UA Little Rock, dating back to 1996. In 2021, the company established an endowed scholarship to benefit first-generation students in the School of Business. This year’s USAble Life Endowed Scholarship recipient, Sathi Gulledge, an MBA student, attended the ceremony.

“Sathi works as a marketing manager for a startup concert planning and promotion company in Little Rock that plans to launch its first concert project this summer,” said Michael Johnson, director of development and external relations at UA Little Rock. “Her ultimate goal is to open her own marketing agency for small businesses, creating job opportunities for others. The scholarship confirms her commitment and motivates her to pursue her dreams.”

This donation is part of the Centennial Campaign, the university’s capital campaign that aims to raise $250 million by UA Little Rock’s centennial in 2027. To date, the campaign has raised $192 million. The donation is part of the Living and Learning Environment pillar. Visit for more information.

“At UA Little Rock, we are focused on improving our living and learning environment to ensure students learn in an environment that meets their needs and is equipped with the latest innovations and technologies,” Bain said. “When students have great spaces to live and learn, they build better connections, perform better academically and are better prepared for success.”
