Austin Peay University offers in-state tuition for military-connected students

All military students and their families can now receive tuition at Austin Peay University after their board of trustees approved the change at their meeting on Friday, June 7.

Applies to active duty military personnel, veterans, reservists, National Guard members and eligible family members in the U.S. and abroad.

According to the press release, over 27% of students at the university have some form of military involvement. They have the largest military student center in Tennessee – the Newton Military Family Resource Center.

Military students have access to the Institute for National Security and Military Studies, including educational programs, military outreach, and interdisciplinary research in national security, intelligence, and military life. There is a new Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, which also has other advantages. All this information can be found on their website.

There will also be a 4% increase for bachelor’s and master’s degrees, which Austin Peay plans to introduce more scholarships to offset.

A wonderful woman; school celebrates beloved teacher living with brain cancer

I think each of us remembers our favorite teachers. In many ways, they leave a mark on our lives. Have your tissue ready for Forrest Sanders’ story about Mrs. McMurray. She poured so much into her students, and they love back when it is needed most.
