South Bend Officer Fires Gun, Someone Injures; police provide few details

SOUTH BEND — One person was taken to the hospital after an incident in which a South Bend police officer fired his gun.

South Bend police said they were called to a call near the intersection of Niles and Colfax avenues on June 11 around 6:40 a.m.

According to the police, none of the officers were injured.

Police did not provide more information about the case, including whether the hospitalized person was shot by an officer or what police were investigating.

Under an interlocal agreement, St. County Police are handling the investigation. Joseph and the Mishawaka Police. This is an ongoing matter and more information will be released as it becomes available.
