A District Court judge revealed herself as the partner of an attempted murder

A District Court judge has been named as the long-term partner of a high-profile man convicted of attempted murder.

Prominent Christchurch eye surgeon Ian Dallison pleaded guilty last year to attempting to murder his former friend and homeowner and assaulting the man’s wife at their Lyttelton home.

It has now been revealed that Dallison’s partner at the time of the crime was Judge Jane Farish.

Dallison fought in the courts to have her name suppressed, arguing that publication of her identity would jeopardize his safety in prison.

Judge Farish had no involvement in or knowledge of the attack before it occurred.
