Media mogul Oprah Winfrey left CBS Mornings with Gayle King after being hospitalized

Oprah Winfrey was hospitalized with what Gayle King says is a “very serious” stomach virus.

After Winfrey left the show CBS Mornings On June 11, Gayle King revealed the real reason for her absence, reporting that the 70-year-old talk show star was taken to the hospital.

King said: “She had some sort of stomach bug – stomach flu – and there was stuff coming out of both ends. I won’t be too graphic. Needless to say, she ended up in the hospital due to dehydration and had to have a drip.”

She then shared, “It was a very serious matter. She’ll be fine. I hope she’s not mad at me for sharing this detail.

“But I wanted to make it clear that this was important to her and it really bothered her that she couldn’t be here for you today,” King then assured viewers.

Following King’s disclosure, Winfrey’s spokesperson provided an update on Winfrey’s condition. People Magazine, saying, “Mrs. Winfrey is recovering from a stomach virus and was placed on a drip for dehydration as advised by her doctor. He is resting and feeling better every day.”

For her part, Winfrey posted on Instagram about her book club selection: Acquaintance David Wroblewski, which she was originally scheduled to share on CBS Mornings.
