WATCH: Champaign firefighters rescue ducklings from storm drain

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Champaign Fire Department came to the rescue Monday after a passerby found baby ducks trapped in a storm drain.

Abbie Irwin, an Urbana resident, spotted the feathered family while making DoorDash deliveries. A worried mother duck circled the storm drain with her ducklings trapped inside.

Firefighters and an unknown man arrived at the scene. A fire truck was even sent and used for the rescue operation.

The team soon managed to fish out all nine ducklings and return them to their mother.
