A 17-year-old died two weeks after the accident in San Angelo

Two weeks after a two-vehicle collision in San Angelo, a 17-year-old was pronounced dead, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. May 26 near U.S. Highway 67 at Preacher Road.

Tyler Parum, 32, was driving a 2023 Dodge 2500 truck.

Christina Schuler, 45, was driving a 2010 Ford Escape SUV and the passengers were a 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old male.

According to a preliminary investigation by DPS, Parum was driving south on US 67.

Schuler stopped in front of Parum, waiting for oncoming traffic, then turned left onto the private road Preacher Road.

“(Parum) failed to control his speed due to distraction in the vehicle and struck the (SUV),” according to the allegations in the DPS news release. “Both vehicles skidded and entered the eastern ditch. (Parum’s truck) went through the east ditch, struck the fence and came to rest vertically, facing east.

“(The SUV) rotated to the left and came to rest in the ditch vertically, facing northeast. Parum, Christina and a 16-year-old female passenger were transported by San Angelo EMS to Shannon Medical Center Downtown in San Angelo.”
