The prosecutor’s office is demanding 15 years in prison for DJ Yesong, who killed a man in an accident under the influence of alcohol

A sentence of 15 years in prison was proposed DJ Yesongwho caused a fatal accident while driving under the influence in the heart of Gangnam, Seoul.

On June 11, Judge Kim Ji Joung of the 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court presided over the trial of Ms. An (DJ Yesong), a woman in her 20s who was charged with dangerous driving resulting in death under the Enhanced Punishment for Certain Offenses Act.

During the trial, the prosecutor’s office stated: “Being extremely drunk, she committed two road accidents, one of which resulted in death. Despite causing the loss of life, she placed the blame on the victim, demonstrating a serious lack of blame. We demand a sentence of 15 years in prison and the confiscation of her Mercedes Benz sedan and the keys.

The prosecutor’s office also emphasized that “The victim died from excessive bleeding caused by the accident. At the time of the incident, he must have experienced extreme physical pain and extreme mental anguish in the face of an unforeseen death. The victim’s family continues to suffer from the unexpected funeral and subsequent economic hardship

In her final statement, Ms An expressed remorse, saying: “I didn’t have any DJ gigs scheduled at the time, which disrupted my life, and I went to a meeting for financial reasons where I couldn’t refuse drinks. I deeply regret that, as a result of my mistake, I caused irreparable harm to the victim

She continued with tears in her eyes: “I kneel down and apologize to the victim who lost his life because of me. I committed an unforgivable sin against a family that lost a loved one

Mrs. An vowed, “For the rest of my life, I will live with the intention of atonement for my sins towards the deceased and his family. I’m really sorry. I did wrong.

Her lawyer pleaded for leniency, arguing: “Even though she committed a serious crime, we are asking for a lenient sentence in the hope that she will be rehabilitated and become a normal, productive citizen again.

The first verdict in Ms. An’s case is scheduled for July 9.

Previously, Ms. An caused a road accident while driving under the influence of alcohol on February 3 at around 4:30 a.m. in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, and fled the scene. She hit a 50-year-old motorcycle driver near the intersection with Hakdong Station. The driver, Mr A, was taken to hospital but ultimately died from his injuries. At the time of the accident, Ms. An’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.221%, which indicated she was severely intoxicated. She then appeared in court on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and hit-and-run.
