Journalist downplays likelihood of Jadon Sancho joining Arsenal if he were to leave Man United this summer – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is highly unlikely to join Premier League rivals Arsenal, even though the London club has previously tried to sign him.

This is the opinion of journalist Charles Watts, who talked to Caughtoffside about the England representative.

Sancho’s United career appears to be coming to an end and, as things stand, a permanent separation seems a much more likely outcome.

He fell out with Eric ten Hag last year when their heated argument went public. To escape his problems at Old Trafford, Sancho re-joined Borussia Dortmund on loan in the winter transfer window.

At Signal Iduna Park, the 24-year-old’s fortunes saw a slight improvement as he helped the team reach the Champions League final, where they ultimately lost to La Liga giants Real Madrid.

Sancho scored three goals and two assists in 21 games for Dortmund.

It is believed that Edin Terzic’s men will be keen to extend Sancho’s stay in the team, but cannot afford to meet United’s asking price. The Red Devils want £40 million for the striker.

Dortmund are keen to discuss another loan deal, but United are pushing for a more permanent deal as they need money to fund their own recruitment drive this summer.

Fabrizio Romano recently provided an update on Sancho on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote: “Manchester United believe there may be more clubs interested in signing Jadon Sancho, not just Borussia Dortmund.”

“There are expected to be options from other countries, Man United will look at all of them before settling on the best one. Sancho remains available for an initial price of £40 million.

However, according to Watts, Arsenal are not expected to pursue Sancho in the upcoming window.

The Gunners tried to secure his services when he was still present at Manchester City at the beginning of his career, but on this occasion Sancho disregarded them and opted to join Dortmund instead.

Watts told CaughtOffside: “Considering what Mikel Arteta has done with Kai Havertz, you can never rule out the possibility that he will be able to change any player’s career.”

“He is a manager who has shown that he can improve a player and get him playing at the highest level again.”

“Arsenal need another wide option in their squad and Jadon Sancho will undoubtedly have a quality winger on the market this summer, with Manchester United looking to sell him, according to Fabrizio Romano.”

“Sancho reminded everyone what he could do with his performances at Dortmund when he was on loan again in Germany and I’m sure there will be a lot of interest in him after this period.”

Watts added: “However, I don’t see Arsenal being one of the clubs interested, despite the need for a new winger.”

“The club was interested in Sancho in the past, when he was still a young player at Manchester City and had not yet signed a new contract. Arsene Wenger then pushed for him, but he decided to join Dortmund instead. And you have to admit, considering the way his career turned out after leaving England for Germany, you have to admit that it was probably the right decision.

Sancho United’s contract expires in 2026.
