FORT ST. JOHN, British Columbia – A Taylor Fire and Rescue member received an award for 25 years of service during the Taylor District Council meeting.

Ray Ensz, a Taylor volunteer firefighter, was recognized by the province at the June 10 meeting for his continued service to the province and Taylor County.

“It was never about how many years. It’s about the safety of our community and the people that pass through it, and that’s why I’m doing it,” Ensz said.

Ensz has been a member of Taylor Fire and Rescue since May 1998, serving the community for 26 years. During his 20th year of service, the firefighter was also honored with a federal award.

“I’m doing it for my community and that’s all,” Ensz said.
