Suspect in deadly Lake Berryessa shooting arrested on murder charges

(KRON) – A suspect has been arrested in a fatal shooting on Lake Berryessa last weekend. Gabriel James Chavez, 25, of American Canyon, was arrested and charged with murder, the Napa County sheriff announced Tuesday.

Chavez was arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred Saturday after a large fight at Lake Berryessa. During a scene that was described as “chaotic,” 39-year-old Vallejo resident Andres Fabian Sandoval Garcia suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

Police said three more victims were injured by punches and stabbings. The incident started with two groups confronting each other, which led to a fight. Police said the shooting suspect, later identified as Chavez, fled the scene.

However, he was later arrested while undergoing treatment in hospital.

Chavez is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
