28-year-old man arrested after throwing objects at Nigel Farage

The Reform UK leader was on the roof of the party’s battle bus in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, on Tuesday morning when a trophy was thrown at him, narrowly missing him.

A man in a red hoodie could be seen shouting from the work area below before reaching into a bucket and throwing something else, which also missed.

Workers appeared to have pulled the man from the scene and he fled before police caught up with him.

South Yorkshire Police said: “We arrested a 28-year-old man today on suspicion of disorderly conduct in connection with a disturbance in Barnsley town centre.

“The man is believed to have thrown items from a nearby construction site.

“The suspect was quickly arrested and remains in police custody.”

Farage said he believed the items were wet cement and a cup of coffee.

He told reporters: “We are now dealing with a mob that wants to end all debate, a mob that is ready to use violence to achieve its goals, and for a democratic country that is really very, very disturbing.”

Asked how he was feeling, Farage added: “Me? I’m used to this. I don’t like it, of course not. It stops me from doing what I want.

“I do best when I go out, meet people and talk to them, discuss things with them, go to pubs or whatever else I do.

“And these aggressive young people are stopping me. It’s very, very frustrating.”

He posted the video on X, formerly Twitter, saying: “I’m giving a huge thank you to South Yorkshire Police today.

“I will not be intimidated or intimidated by a violent leftist mob that hates our country.”

The police warned Farage not to get off the bus.

The ruling came after Victoria Thomas Bowen, 25, was charged with assault by beating occasioning actual bodily harm after a milkshake was thrown at Mr Farage as he left the Moon and Starfish Wetherspoons pub in Clacton on Tuesday last week -on-Sea in Essex.

Farage was seen with a yellow drink splashed on his navy blue suit as he boarded his campaign bus.

Thomas Bowen is due to appear before Colchester Magistrates’ Court on July 2.

While on a campaign walk in Newcastle in 2019, Farage had a banana and salted caramel milkshake worth £5.25 thrown at him.
