Minneapolis man linked to serious crimes arrested after hours-long search in Otter Tail County – Perham Focus

DETROIT LAKES – A Minneapolis man suspected of being connected to a serious assault or possible attempted murder in Minneapolis was arrested Saturday morning at the Hansel Lake rest area off Interstate 94 in Otter Tail County.

Eliezer Rodriguez, 31, was arrested after an air, ground and K9 search of the area during which a shelter-in-place order was issued, according to a press release issued Monday by the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest came hours after the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office and State Patrol received a report of a suspicious person in the rest area.

Police determined that the suspect’s vehicle was linked to serious crimes in Minneapolis. The initial report was received at 7:17 a.m., and at 2:41 p.m., the suspect was spotted by a local resident near the rest area.

A ground team composed of officers from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Grant County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota DNR began tracking Rodriguez and arrested him within an hour after a short foot chase, according to a press release. .

Once cornered, he surrendered without incident and was transported to Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls for medical issues unrelated to his arrest. Rodriguez was released into the custody of the Minneapolis Park Police Department.
