LUBBOCK, Texas – Donovan Sanchez, who pleaded guilty after a fatal shooting in North Lubbock, a 19-year-old admitted pushing the victim from a moving vehicle on Interstate 27, according to court records obtained Monday evening.

On May 8, a man later identified as 32-year-old Infant of Davila, identifying himself as “Adrian Davila,” was found dead on a road near North Loop 289 and I-27 around 3:25 a.m.

Investigators determined that Davila had been shot in the head and left in the road. The Lubbock Police Department said Davila was in a vehicle when he got into a “verbal altercation” with a 16-year-old, after which the teen shot him.

New court documents show that Sanchez told authorities after shooting Davila that he “didn’t know what to do.” Court records show Sanchez admitted he opened the front door and “pushed” Davila out of the car before driving away.

LPD said the teen accused of shooting Davila was arrested on May 9 at 1900 Avenue L. The teen was charged with murder and taken to the Lubbock Juvenile Justice Center. Later on June 4, Sanchez turned himself in to the Lubbock office of the Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit. He was charged with tampering with evidence and taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center. Sanchez posted $50,000 bail on June 5 and was no longer in jail as of Tuesday.
