Two people have died in a fiery two-vehicle crash in Ocala

Two people died in a crash that happened Tuesday night in Ocala. Police said two vehicles were involved in the collision, and the driver and passenger of one of the vehicles – a man and a woman – died at the scene.

OCALA, Florida. – A 17-year-old was arrested Tuesday in connection with a February crash that killed a husband and wife in Ocala, according to police.

According to the Ocala Police Department, the teen faces several charges, including two counts of DUI, two counts of DUI, and three counts of DUI causing property damage. FOX 35 is choosing not to name the suspect due to his age.

Police said the crash occurred on Feb. 20 around 8:30 p.m. near the 1500 block of SE 36th Ave. in Ocala.

FOX 35 previously reported on the incident, saying police were looking for relevant surveillance footage during the investigation.

According to police, the couple’s car burst into flames. The man was thrown from the vehicle and the woman was still trapped inside. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The teenager suffered serious injuries in the accident and was taken to a local hospital.

Investigators determined that the 17-year-old was driving at a speed of over 200 km/h moments before the accident. “There were no skid marks,” police added.

According to police, when he was brought to the hospital his blood alcohol level was 0.188, more than twice the legal limit.

We take these cases seriously and strive to bring justice to the victims and their loved ones.
